Vinyl siding. Choosing which siding to install on your home can be confusing, especially if you are unsure of what's available. But we’re here to simplify things for you and help you find the perfect look for your home.

Looking at vinyl siding for the first time can seem like it will take you down a rabbit hole, but we can help you make it an easier decision!

Dutchlap, horizontal, board and batten, woodgrain textures...It all sounds so complex, right? Well, here's a little bit more information for you.

Woodgrains

Woodgrains are something that you have to keep in mind when looking for your choice of vinyl siding. Mitten has created three various woodgrain textures that range from deep woodgrains to subtle woodgrains. Some profiles and colours Mitten offers aren't available in certain woodgrain textures, and that's something to keep in mind. What is available to you?

  1. Oregon Pride - Subtle painted cedar texture
  2. Sentry - Rich cedar grain texture
  3. Highland - Satin finish woodgrain texture

Dutchlap

The dutchlap profile has been the most popular amongst customers. Why? Because of its versatility, colour, and woodgrain range. It's a double dutchlap panel created to mimic hand-carved wood, creating deeper shadows and smoother lines with a more defined bevel.

Horizontal

Horizontal profiles are a more traditional style and mimic the look of wedge-shaped planks of overlapped wood. It's also available in a variety of widths, colours, and woodgrain patterns.

Board and Batten

Board and batten resemble traditional style wood board and batten. Being exclusively available in the Sentry woodgrain, it is available in all of Mitten's vinyl siding colours.

Now it's time to choose your colour scheme! Since each profile is available in different widths and woodgrains, they are also available in different colours. You can use Mitten's visualizer tool, enVISION it, to upload a picture of your own home and choose your siding colours!

Pick up sample colour chips from any of our retail locations to take home to view the colour in natural lighting. It's also best to stick the colour chips to your home and observe it morning, noon, and night to get an idea of what it will look like in different lighting.

That's the rundown on vinyl siding! As always, if you still have questions, contact your local branch and our staff will be more than happy to help.
